Coaching Positions and Internship Application

We have two opportunities for coaches who want to work with athletes and potentially others types of individuals in the wellness industry – a performance coach position or an unpaid internship.  Please read on.

Job Description

Fitness Planning Consultants was created to help athletes develop their overall athleticism to put them in the best position possible to achieve their athletic dreams. We want to help lay the foundation for these athletes on what it takes to accomplish your goals so that they can carry it on with them throughout their lifetime years after they have stopped playing sports.
We have worked with athletes at every level – youth, high school, college, and professional – in all sorts of different sports. Our field is constantly changing and we are always pushing ourselves to put together the best workout plans for our athletes so we can help them achieve their goals.  Whether you are looking for a PT or FT position with the company or our internship program, PLEASE CONTINUE READING EVERYTHING.

Responsibilities

What Internship Covers

If you choose this internship you will be learning how to put youth athletes and older through our speed and strength program. You will shadow, observe, organize, create, and eventually lead training sessions with our athletes. The programming will be geared towards youth athletes through potentially college age for various sports with one goal in mind – PROVIDE THE ATHLETE WITH THE BEST EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE.

Who Might This Be For

If you are interested in going into the strength and conditioning field, this internship would be perfect for you. We are looking for energetic, personable, and willing to learn candidates that can accept this internship. If you are pursuing a degree in an Exercise related field or an industry certification such as but not limited to – NSCA-CSCS, ACSM, NSCA-CPT, USA Sport Performance Coach – this would be perfect for you.
If you are desiring to run your own fitness business at some point, this would be great experience to see how a small fitness business operates and the work outside the coaching portion is required of you to be successful.

Internship Details You Need To Be Aware Of

  • We need you at odd hours – often your typical after school/work hours (3pm and later) and Saturday mornings. Summer interns would be required to come earlier starting at 9:30 potentially.
  • This is an unpaid internship.
  • There will be some admin tasks you might have to do and on down time some cleaning (the grunt work that interns need to do).
  • You must be on time all the time and find your own way to the facility.

If you are selected to be our intern, this will be an awesome experience that we hope you embrace. It will set you up to better understand how the “real world” operates and the skills you need to be successful at your job even if it isn’t in the strength and conditioning field.  If the internship interests you, please fill out the form below and write out “INTERNSHIP” by your name when you enter your name.  Fill out all other fields normally.
If you are applying for a Performance Coach position within our company, please note the following requirements would be necessary:
  • Good Communication Skills: you will be talking with my clients, who are VERY important to me.  You must be comfortable conversing in-person and on the phone and know how to conduct yourself professionally, and deliver clear instructions to the clients.  I’ll teach you everything you need to do during a training session, but I can’t teach you manners and professionalism.
  • People skills, good personality & energy: – must LOVE working with people, have a great personality and be energetic! As mentioned above you must be very comfortable working with people, especially youth athletes.  This is an exciting studio and you must be able to show your clients energy and excitement while working with them.
  • Health and Fitness Education:  You do not need personal training experience, but you should have a working knowledge of health and fitness.

If you have these additional skills, your resume will go right to the top of the stack (but if you don’t have these skills, you should still apply because these are not mandatory).

  • Previous personal training experience (fitness studio, health club, in-home trainer, etc.)
  • Basic nutrition knowledge
  • National Certification
  • Kinesiology, Exercise Science or Health Related Degree
  • CPR Certified
