My name is Adam Kessler. I am not a
business or marketing guru by any means. I am a personal trainer
just like you and I've had my own fitness business for 8 years now and
been a trainer for 14 years.
It has been a long haul, but I feel that I'm finally at a point where I
can make some real money in this business. Unfortunately, I meet a
lot of personal trainers who don't understand the business side of this
industry. They are great trainers. They have the degrees and
certifications. They know their stuff inside and out, but they don't
know how to make more money in this industry. Or better yet
CONSISTENT money.
Here is a scenario for you. I've lived it and I've seen it, so
tell me if this is you.
"You are a personal trainer. You train either for a gym, in
people's homes, or have your own facility. You charge $50 an hour.
You have a nice steady flow of clients, where you are training 25 hours a
week. That equals out to $65,000 a year gross (before taxes).
- Now, if you work for a gym, you aren't getting all of that. If
you are lucky they are paying you 60%, or it might be less, which equals
out to be $39,000 a year. That isn't bad right?
- If you have all in-home clients, then you are keeping most of that
for yourself. Your overhead is gas, car wear and tear, and
supplies.
- Finally, if you are a studio owner, there is no way all of that is
going to you because you have to pay rent, utilities, phone, etc.,
before you can even pay yourself. Your probably looking at $10,000
a year."
You fall into one of those scenarios, but let's focus on #1. You
get your pick of the clients from all those members at the gym. You
can make some decent money, but
Do you have benefits??
Can you take vacation time and get paid for it??
What happens if you get sick?? Do you have sick
pay??
What happens if it is that time of year and you lose
three of your clients for awhile?? Does your income take a hit??
Basically, you can make good money, but you hope none of those
scenarios happen. Otherwise, you make NO MONEY!!!
You can't even take a week long vacation because you are missing training
sessions. You can't get sick because you miss sessions and can't
make money. You hope your clients will stay forever because you
don't know if you'll be able to find new ones to replace them.
Too many trainers get into this industry thinking they are going to get
a salary, get a shirt with "personal trainer" on the back, and get handed
a ton of clients.
IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!
Other trainers get into this, become very frustrated with
the inconsistent hours and paychecks. They eventually leave the
industry for steady work. Maybe they go into real estate or work for
their parent's company.
Finally, some trainers become really successful at
training clients. Make a good living, but become a victim of their
job and can't take time off without taking a hit in the wallet. Burn
out quickly sets in, unless you can develop other revenue streams.
What are revenue streams?
This is what I talk about in my e-book, Personal
Training: The Truths They Forget To Tell You On Making Serious Money.
Like I said, I'm not a marketer and I'm not trying to
shift into fitness marketing, but I'm tired of seeing personal trainers
fail in this industry. You CAN make money and you don't have
to toil around for years to get it like I did.
This e-book, will help you answer these questions:
-
Is your personal training systemized or more 'seat of
the pants'? (If you don't know what a system is you're in trouble)
-
Do you have a surefire way of getting clients
consistently or are you winging it?
-
What are the best ways to increase your income
WITHOUT increasing your hours?
-
In fact, do you know how to increase your income by
DECREASING your training hours?
-
Will it be beneficial to get that master's degree or
second degree or not?
-
If I tell you a couple ways to increase your income,
will you do them, or will you say I'm full of sh*t and keep doing what
you are doing? (If you are going to order this e-book, you darn
well better apply what I'm saying)
-
What certifications are the most respected ones out
there?
-
Do you even need certifications to be a successful
trainer?
-
Do I need to own a studio to make money?
-
Do you know who are the top personal training marketing
guys out there?
-
Can you get paid a salary being a personal trainer
and if so, where are those jobs at?
-
Is this the right job for me?
If you aren't asking these questions right now, you
either have your own business and it is booming, or you are living in
the moment and not looking at the future.
Look, I was in
your shoes. I was in my twenties, single, working as many hours
possible, 7 days a week, but at some point life kicks in and suddenly you
are in your thirties, married with a kid or one on the way. You want
to do other things with your life. Your friends are starting to make
a little money, they get paid vacations, but you still have to train as
many hours possible with no paid vacations.
At some
point, when do you say, "can I go on a vacation and make money?"
If I get hurt, is my income gone for awhile?
If
I want to see my kid's ballgame, can I take time off and have it not
effect my wallet? I Say
YES YOU CAN!!!
If you are a fitness professional who owns your business, works for
a gym, or is an independent trainer AND you can't make any money without
putting in direct training hours, then please order this e-book, Personal
Training: The Truths They Forget To Tell You On Making Serious Money.
The answers to the above questions will be revealed. You will at
least get a blueprint about what you need to do to be successful or you
will say this is way too much work and think about changing careers.
Better you find that out now, rather than wasting years training and
realizing you should have been doing something else.
Why do
we become personal trainers, because we ABSOLUTELY LOVE helping
people achieve their health and fitness goals. At some point though,
