I could sit here and write out all the familiar statements about why people want to get personal training, but I figure you have your reasons and you’ll share them with us when you are ready.
You are reading this because you want a coach for your personal training.
That is great and well intentioned. In my decades of helping people achieve their fitness goals, if you want this to be successful for you, then the following will have to be achieved.
You and I (or the coach you are working with) both have to look forward to your training session each and every time.
If you easily can find excuses to cancel our training sessions, then that is the time we stop working together.
How does that happen?
You have to build some connection with the coach working with you. In order for that to happen, I recommend giving it 12 weeks of consistent effort. Which means in those 12 weeks, you are not going on a sudden week vacation or have other things scheduled that puts the training sessions on the back burner.
You are training for 12 weeks. This will accomplish several things:
- Your body will work through the initial adaptations and you’ll start seeing some changes.
- Three months should give you plenty of time to figure out if you can see yourself working with the coach for many years to come.
I have several clients that I’ve been working with spanning decades. They feel they are getting results. I assume or else why would they stay with us. But, I feel the bigger reason is they enjoy the workout sessions and time spent with them.
Basically, YOU need to put into this as much as we will in order to make this work.
This is much more than us being hard A$$E$ and yelling at you to do another rep. This is a relationship.
Yes, you are going to have to invest some money (potentially $60+ per session) into this relationship. I figure you know that or you wouldn’t be on this page. I’m not just taking your money though. I want to enjoy who I’m spending time with as well. I want to make this worth my while as well as yours.
But, in order to figure this out, we are going to ask for an initial commitment of 12 weeks before you can pay as you go so to speak.
If this isn’t what you were hoping for with personal training, feel free to leave the site. I’ll never know you even looked.
