Derrick Agbaike (Long & High Jump)
Hello, I am Coach Derrick Agbaike. I studied Mechanical Engineering Technology, Business and Marine Biology at Purdue University (2020).
I coach sprints and jumps at Hilliard Darby High School.
During the off season, I coach athletes with a focus on form, technique, speed and strength. During indoor season I focus on high jump / long jump form and technique.
In 2021 I helped coach several athletes to the AAU Junior Olympic games in Houston for long jump, triple jump and the multi events.
In 2022 all my regular high/long jumpers PR’d in their event in just a short 8 week period, including a PR increase of 6″ in high jump, and 3’2″ in long jump.
I was privileged to be coached and mentored by an Olympian/World Record holder throughout my track career. I’ve competed in multiple Junior Olympic games passing those learned experiences down to the athletes I work with.
I understand the importance of academics and coach not just how to be a successful athlete, but a successful student. On top of that, I stress the importance of showing good character through respect, integrity and leadership.
My goal as a coach isn’t just to train athletes, it is to train individuals to conquer and prevail in wherever their paths may take them. (return to the top)
Hello, I’m Coach Garrin. I’m fairly new to professional coaching but have plenty of experience and
knowledge in the world of track and field. I’ve been running track, sense my 7th grade year and have focused on running the hurdle events. I was able to compete at the colligate level while attending college and graduate school at Wittenberg University, where I was a member of the track team for 6 years.
I completed my Masters in the Arts of Athletic Coaching during my last year of competing and have helped Coach Kessler with all his hurdle needs alongside my dad Coach Bachinski. I have been helped coach and teach hurdles to all my teammates I have had throughout my track career. I have volunteered with coaching at my middle school and high school during breaks while finishing school, while also helping run coaching clinics at Wittenberg University.
Track is one of the things that I love in this world, and I can’t see myself not being involved with it in some way in my life. One of my goals is sharing that love and helping younger athletes develop and discover their love for the sport that has made such a large impact on my life. (return to the top)
Gary Bachinski (Hurdles)
I have been a coach for a couple decades now, but recently I’ve been at Watterson with Coach Kessler throughout his entire tenure. I’ve coached a state champion and coached the athletes holding all the hurdles records at Watterson. I was a hurdler myself in the early 80’s at the Ohio State University.
I look forward to helping your athletes get better during Track School. (return to the top)
