Now Hiring: Part-Time Sports Performance Coach
Are you passionate about helping young athletes become faster, stronger, and more confident in their abilities?
Fitness Planning Consultants (FPC), located in Dublin, Ohio, is looking for a part-time Sports Performance Coach to join our team.
At FPC, we specialize in personalized speed and strength training for youth, middle school, and high school athletes. We help athletes improve their physical abilities while building the confidence and skills they need to succeed in their sports.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with young athletes, brings positive energy to training sessions, and is eager to continue developing as a coach.
This is initially a part-time position, with the potential for additional hours and responsibilities over time.
What You Can Expect Working at FPC
Coaching at FPC is about more than taking athletes through a workout. It’s about understanding what each athlete needs, teaching them how to move better, and helping them make measurable progress.
Our personalized, small-group training environment gives coaches the opportunity to get to know their athletes, provide individual feedback, and see the results of their work.
We don’t expect new coaches to know everything when they walk through our doors.
We have an onboarding process that helps new coaches learn our training methods, understand our expectations, and develop the skills and confidence to lead sessions independently.
As part of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Learn from experienced coaches. Observe training sessions, assist with coaching, and receive guidance and feedback before taking on more responsibility.
- Develop your coaching skills. Learn how to teach exercises, identify movement issues, communicate effectively, and provide feedback that helps athletes improve.
- Understand our approach to athletic development. Learn how we assess athletes, design individualized training programs, and adjust workouts to meet each athlete’s needs.
- Work directly with young athletes. Help athletes develop speed, strength, movement skills, and confidence.
- Make a meaningful impact. Build relationships with athletes and families while helping athletes work toward their goals.
Depending on your experience and the needs of our programs, responsibilities may also include assisting with athlete assessments, program design, and maintaining an organized, professional training environment.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young athletes and wants to help them improve.
Ideally, candidates will have a degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field, along with some experience coaching or training athletes.
However, we’re also interested in current college students, recent graduates, and former athletes who have a good foundation in fitness or strength and conditioning and a strong desire to learn.
We believe the qualities that make someone a great coach go beyond a degree or résumé.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Enjoys working with kids and wants to make a positive difference in their development.
- Has a genuine interest in speed, strength, and athletic performance.
- Communicates well and connects with athletes of different ages and abilities.
- Has a working knowledge of exercise and is comfortable in a weight room.
- Is dependable, punctual, professional, and brings positive energy to training sessions.
- Is open to feedback, willing to learn, and committed to becoming a better coach.
- Understands the responsibility of being a positive role model for young athletes.
Education and coaching experience are valuable, but so are enthusiasm, character, and a willingness to learn. We can teach you our training methods. What matters is having a solid foundation and the desire to become a great coach.
Position Details & Schedule
We’re currently hiring for a part-time Sports Performance Coach at our Dublin, Ohio facility.
Because most of our athletes train after school, we’re primarily looking for someone who is available during weekday afternoons and early evenings, as well as Saturday mornings. These are our most important coaching hours for approximately 8–9 months of the year.
During school breaks, including summer and winter break, some morning coaching hours may also be available or needed.
We understand that college students and other candidates may have changing schedules. We’re willing to discuss availability with applicants who would otherwise be a great fit for our team.
For the right person, this position could develop into additional hours and responsibilities over time.
Interested in an Internship Instead?
If you’re a college student or aspiring strength and conditioning coach looking to gain hands-on experience, FPC also offers a Sports Performance Internship Program.
Our internship provides an opportunity to learn about coaching speed and strength training, work alongside experienced coaches, and gain practical experience helping young athletes improve their performance.
If you’re not quite ready for a paid coaching position but want to develop your skills, our internship may be a great place to start.
